Assistant/Associate Professor

Department Summary

The Department of Medical Education provides educational support services to TCOM and to other health science center programs. Faculty and staff in the department schedule medical school classes, coordinate the scheduling of all other classes, support curriculum development activities in the medical school, conduct faculty development programs designed for relevant professional development of all faculty, and contribute to educational research. 
 Medical Education assists with basic science and clinical science faculty review, and provides staff support to the Curriculum Committee and course director groups that carry out the improvement and development of our osteopathic curriculum.  

Position Summary

The faculty member will use their expertise in Health Systems Sciences, Medical Academics and Innovation to develop, implement and assess TCOM’s Health Systems Sciences program with the goal of expanding the program to encompass broad community, state and national collaborations. 

Minimum Qualifications

•DO, PhD, MD degree
•Experience with higher education curriculum development;
•Experience with research design, IRB and research methods that produce actionable findings
•Topical expert in Health Systems Sciences;
•Able to demonstrate previous scholarly activity and publication of research findings to recognized journals;
•Early career candidates must demonstrate strong potential to develop a research program supported by external funding, while more established candidates must demonstrate active, externally funded research.

Preferred Qualifications

•Active member of IHI and/or active in Health Systems Sciences initiatives;
•Experience in educational research, qualitative or quantitative research design, statistics/data analysis or a background working with inferential statistics, machine learning, data analytics, emerging technologies (AI, VR, etc.);
•Experience working within an academic setting and comfortable using health information technologies

Description of Job Duty

  • Aids the Executive Director  in the establishment of program strategy and curriculum development and implementation 
  • Responsible for program growth within TCOM, HSC and the community 
  • Facilitates the development of community and state-wide collaborations to achieve the vision and mission of the program
  • Responsible for the collection and compilation of relevant data and trends 
  • Conducts program scholarly activity which includes research and publications based on excellent research design, IRB and research methods that produce actionable findings and presents those findings both locally and nationally 
  • Develops program policies and procedures 
  • Responsible for student instruction and support including teaching, grading, student feedback and the maintaining of office hours
