Position Summary:

The successful candidate for the Associate Dean, Clinical Education will have a demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity and inclusivity.

Under the leadership of the Senior Associate Dean of Medical Education, and in coordination with the Campus Deans, the Associate Dean for Preclinical Education and the Associate Dean for Assessment, Quality and Accreditation, is responsible to provide administrative leadership to innovate, develop, and ensure an integrated curriculum in compliance with accreditation standards.
Collaborate with Associate Dean for Assessment, Quality and Accreditation to identify improvements for curricular components or additions as identified by assessment reviews.

In partnership with the Associate Dean for Preclinical Education, develop, implement, and evaluate a structured, integrated, longitudinal curriculum for implementation in the clinical learning environment, including a successful plan for transition from UME to GME.

Act as a liaison with affiliated clinical education institutions, including development of partner relationships, recruitment and retention of clinical preceptors, and the management and development of clinical rotations.

Review evaluations of teaching performance of clinical education sites and teaching faculty participating in the clinical education program; collaborate with the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs to identify requisite faculty development and supervise staff responsible for implementation.

Provide regular training and educational activities for faculty, staff and administration, including clinical education summits.

Oversee and manage UME clinical education operations, including Clinical Assistant Deans and administrative staff to support clinical divisions.

Oversee academic progress and milestones of individual students; collaborate with the Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs, the Associate Dean for Preclinical Education, and the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education, for the responsibility for student guidance, counseling, and discipline and overall assessments of student progress and performance; collaborate with others to provide effective, timely student remediation as needed;

Establish and maintain effective working relationships; maintain cooperative and collegial relationships with others to ensure a workplace founded on dignity and respect; champion positive inter-professional relationships with college, university and healthcare partners; support diversity in all aspects of the educational experience and foster positive collegial relationships amongst students, staff, and faculty.

Remain current and knowledgeable in instructional design and methods; conduct scholarly work related to medical education and/or other areas of research in foundational, social, or behavioral sciences; maintain full working knowledge of the curriculum management software tools and varied use within medical education.

Minimum Qualifications:

D.O. or M.D.

Minimum of six (6) years of teaching, with administrative, supervisory, and/or program development experience in a medical school or a teaching hospital

Leadership experience in undergraduate medical education (UME) or graduate medical education (GME) programs

Consistent history of serving on and/or leading project teams or committees

Evidence of increased leadership and management responsibilities over human and fiscal resources

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with programmatic (COCA) and institutional Higher Learning Commission accreditation requirements
