Franklin Memorial Hospital is seeking a General Orthopedic Surgeon - Physician - in Farmington.

The Orthopedics program at Farmington includes state-of-the-art joint replacements, including total knee and hip replacements, carpal tunnel release, joint arthroscopy, fracture reduction, and foot and hand surgery.  A diverse physical rehabilitation and sports medicine department supports the Orthopedics program, as well as a weekly sports medicine clinic for individuals of all ages who suffer from a sports-related injury, including student athletes and adult recreational athletes. The Farmington team has an Orthopedic Surgeon, a Sports Medicine physician, an experienced PA, and a podiatrist.   The selected candidate will share call and work collaboratively with another community based Orthopedic Surgeon.  This position also offers teaching opportunities of medical students, as Franklin Memorial Hospital is one of the teaching sites for the Maine Medical Center – Tufts University Medical School program.

New employees are eligibility to apply to a National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program, which provides financial assistance opportunities ranging from $35k-$100k per health care worker serving in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA). HPSAs are federally-designated scores ranging from 0 (low) to 25 (high) in order to determine health professional shortage severity. In order to apply to receive financial assistance, health care workers must be employed at a site with a HPSA designation that has also has undergone NHSC approval. Sites and applicants located in a higher HPSA location have a higher likelihood to be awarded a loan repayment program.
