About Trauma Trust

Located in Tacoma, WA (30 miles south of Seattle), the Tacoma Trauma Trust is a non-profit 501(c)3 joint level II trauma program. This unique trauma center works collaboratively with Tacoma General Hospital (MultiCare Health System) and St. Joseph Medical Center (Virginia Mason Franciscan Health) and rotates trauma call between the two facilities. The Trauma Trust team is made up of Trauma and Acute Care Surgeons, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and Administrative Staff. The two trauma centers combined treat an average of 2,800 patients per year

Tacoma General Hospital and St. Joseph Medical Center are recognized leaders using advanced state-of-the-art technology. EPIC, our Electronic Medical Record (EMR), is used at both facilities, and keeps our staff well connected throughout the healthcare system.

Tacoma General Hospital is the largest and busiest hospital in Tacoma with 437 beds. It is one of five MultiCare Health System hospitals based in the South Sound area. St. Joseph Medical Center, a 361 bed hospital, is the flagship hospital of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, also based in Tacoma. It is one of six hospitals affiliated with Catholic Health Initiatives here in the South Sound. These two hospitals are one mile apart in central Tacoma.

Trauma Trust is a unique partnership between Tacoma General Hospital and the St. Joseph Medical Center. We provide advanced Acute Care Surgery services which include Trauma, Emergency General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. We are designated by the State of Washington Department of Health as a Level II Trauma Center and serve as a tertiary referral center encompassing follow up care, education, injury prevention and community outreach.
