About Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health

Thomas Jefferson University & Jefferson Health is a nationally recognized, regional health system in Philadelphia, the surrounding communities and southern New Jersey. Under the leadership of Stephen K. Klasko, MD, MBA, the organization has entered a dynamic and transformative period that signals a new era of integration, collaboration, and optimization. Jefferson has grown from a local three-hospital system in Philadelphia to a regional 14-hospital network in two states, following successful mergers with Abington Health, Aria Health System, and Kennedy Health System in New Jersey, and Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia. The completion of another merger with the Einstein Healthcare Network is expected later this year. Operating revenue has grown from approximately $2 billion to over $6 billion, and Jefferson Health currently provides care to patients at more than 50 outpatient locations. Once the Einstein merger is completed, the combined clinical academic enterprise will boast the largest residency program in the Greater Philadelphia region, making Jefferson uniquely positioned to educate the brightest healthcare professionals of tomorrow with a multi-hospital clinical rotation unlike any other.

In addition to its 14 hospital locations, Jefferson is comprised of 7 urgent care centers, an NCI-Designated Cancer Center, 22 rehabilitation specialty services, 17 outpatient centers, and 25 testing and imaging centers. The health system’s hospitals serve as the teaching hospitals of Thomas Jefferson University, including the academic medical center, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Other hospitals in the system include Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience, Methodist Hospital in South Philadelphia, Abington Memorial Hospital, in the northern suburb of Abington, Lansdale Hospital in central Montgomery County, the three hospitals and various clinics of Jefferson Health Northeast, in Northeast Philadelphia and Lower Bucks County, and Jefferson Health New Jersey facilities in southern New Jersey, including hospitals in Washington Township and Cherry Hill.

In a world where healthcare is ever-changing, one constant is the exceptional care delivered by the nation’s best. Jefferson excels at providing excellent clinical and compassionate care for patients, educating the health professionals of tomorrow in a variety of disciplines, and discovering new knowledge that will define the future of clinical care. Jefferson has more than 30,000 employees reimagining healthcare, education and discovery. Every day, everyone is dedicated to one thing improving lives. Jefferson ranks as the 16th Best Hospital on U.S. News & World Report’s Honor Roll list. Jefferson continues to top the list of hospitals in Pennsylvania (3rd) and the Philadelphia metro area (2nd) in U.S. News & World Report’s annual listing of the best hospitals and specialties. Jefferson also stands out as among the best in 11 specialty areas Orthopedics, Cancer, Ear, Nose & Throat, Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Nephrology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Geriatrics, Cardiology & Heart Surgery, and Urology.
