Advancing Health Professionals (AHP) is a Peace Corps Response program that aims to improve health care education and strengthen health systems on a societal level. AHP assigns Volunteers to non-clinical, specialized assignments that enhance the quality of health care in resource-limited areas. AHP is recruiting medical and health professionals as educators and advisors to help bridge the gap by sharing their skills and knowledge in 12-month Volunteer assignments.
Assignments have a national impact and contribute to outcomes that can benefit and be replicated by the entire country. Volunteers deliver and promote the equitable delivery of services where they are most needed.
The Peace Corps is an independent agency and program of the United States government that trains and deploys volunteers to provide international development assistance. The Advancing Health Professionals program is under Peace Corps Response—the nimble arm of the Peace Corps that seeks professionals with diverse skills and the know-how to hit the ground ready to serve.
Response Volunteers serving in the AHP program receive the same benefits as Peace Corps Response Volunteers. These benefits include:
Volunteers who complete 12 or more months of service within 24 months are eligible for the Coverdell Fellows Program and they earn non-competitive eligibility for jobs with the Peace Corps.
