About Ear, Nose and Throat Associates of San Mateo

Ear, Nose and Throat Associates dates its history back to 1948. At that time, Daniel Boudett started his practice in San Mateo, having completed his residency training at UC San Francisco and having served as a Flight Surgeon during World War II. Dr. Boudett was the first private practitioner in the area to have specialized in Otolaryngology, as prior to that time the specialty of Ophthalmology was combined with Otolaryngology and specialists were Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat doctors.

In 1949, Alex Weisskopf completed his training at UC San Francisco and joined Dr. Boudett. In 1961, Ellis Ellison, who trained at University of Minnesota and practiced for nine years in Minneapolis, joined the practice. Drs. Boudett, Weisskopf, and Ellison practiced together until 1979, when Dr. Boudett retired. Dr. Weisskopf subsequently retired in 1986.

In 1986 David Ellison completed his residency training at UCLA and joined the practice. Drs. Ellis and David Ellison practiced together until 1994 when Jennifer Bock Hughes, who completed her residency at UC San Francisco, joined the group. Subsequently in 2000 Dr. Ellis Ellison retired and Dr. Albert Geller, who had trained at the University of Iowa and practiced in San Bruno, joined the group.

The next year Terri Chipman, who completed her residency at the University of Wisconsin, relocated her practice from Los Altos to San Mateo. In 2002, Christina Laane completed her residency training at UC San Francisco and joined the practice. Theresa Gurney graduated from medical school at the University of California, San Francisco with the distinction of Alpha Omega Alpha (an honor for top medical students) and joined the practice in 2012. Emily Crozier attended Princeton and completed both medical school and residency at the University of Texas Southwestern. She joined the practice in 2013.
