About Bristol Hospital

Founded in 1921, Bristol Hospital continues to be the leading health provider for those who live and work in the Greater Bristol area. The hospital has earned national recognition for its commitment to providing outstanding patient care. Bristol Hospital has 169 licensed beds and offers a complete range of patient services including a first-rate emergency center that cares for more than 40,000 patients each year.

As healthcare has changed through the years, so has Bristol Hospital. Having grown from a community hospital to an integrated network that provides a full-continuum of services, - both inpatient and outpatient - Bristol Hospital and Healthcare Group, in 2019, became Bristol Health. The name change better reflects its integrated network of providers and the full scope of care it has offered the community for years. The organization's name has changed, but its commitment to the highest quality, compassionate and advanced care remains.

Bristol Hospital achieved ANCC Magnet Recognition® in July 2015 from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the hospital was also named the third safest in Connecticut by Consumer Reports magazine in the spring of 2013. Additionally, Health Information Management Systems Society Analytics announced that Bristol Hospital was the first in the State of Connecticut and the first in the country utilizing the Meditech 6.x electronic medical record platform to be certified as a Stage 7 level organization on the EMR Adoption ModelSM.

The hospital also is home to the Sleep Center, and the Center for Orthopedic and Spine Health, offering comprehensive joint health, spine health and sports medicine care in a community hospital setting. The Bariatric Surgery Program is accredited as a Level 1 facility by the Bariatric Surgery Center Network Accreditation Program of the American College of Surgeons. The 6,100-square-foot Beekley Center for Breast Health and Wellness offers patients comprehensive breast care and wellness in a spa-like setting.

Bristol Health also has a 50,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art surgical center, a family-centered, single-room-model maternity unit, and an award-winning ICU at its hospital; and operates the Ingraham Manor skilled nursing facility, the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine, the Connecticut Gastroenterology Institute, inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services, and an advanced diagnostic imaging department offering the latest in CT/PET, MRI and nuclear medicine.
